Alimentação de quatro espécies de Characiformes de um riacho da Floresta Atlântica, Guaraqueçaba, Paraná, Brasil Zoologia

No presente estudo foram analisadas mudanças sazonais na dieta, comportamento alimentar e partilha de recursos de jovens e adultos de quatro espécies de Characiformes em um riacho de Floresta Atlântica, localizado no norte do litoral paranaense. As coletas foram realizadas mensalmente entre agosto de 1999 e setembro de 2000 com a utilização de técnicas tradicionais de pesca e observações subaquáticas diretas. A análise da dieta foi realizada através do método de freqüência de ocorrência. Em geral, exemplares jovens apresentaram freqüências de estômagos repletos superiores aos adultos. Determining the age composition of a population is important when conducting ecological, taxonomic and environmental assessments. Morphometric measurements of the head capsule, especially the length and width, are widely used in the identification of insect instars, but alternative ways for determining the age of insects can expand the options for the analysis of field and laboratory populations. This study evaluated the morphometry of the antennae, mandibles, mentum and ventromental plates to discriminate among the four larval instars of Chironomus sancticaroli Strixino & Strixino, 1981. ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the occurrence and infestation rates of Streblidae species on bats in a semideciduous seasonal forest fragment in western Paraná, South of Brazil. A total of 289 specimens of eight Streblidae species were collected from six species of bats belonging to the family Phyllostomidae. The most frequent Streblidae species were Megistopoda proxima (Séguy, 1926), Aspidoptera falcata Wenzel, 1976 and Paratrichobius longicrus (Miranda Ribeiro, 1907).
